History

The Rotary Club of Table Bay was chartered in 1955 as the Rotary Club of Paarden Eiland. Target membership was originally for people who worked in Paarden Eiland. After a few years the club realised they needed to broaden their area and changed the name to Table Bay. The club was lucky to have Charter Members with the club into the new century. There is a prestigious list of people who have been members and Presidents of the Rotary Club of Table Bay. Over the years the club moved venue from the early days of meeting at the Voortrekker Hotel in Maitland, to the Holiday Inn Eastern Boulevard, to the Metropolitan Golf Club, from there to Kelvin Grove, and then after a short stint at the German Club a move to the Royal Cape Yacht Club. Another change was to move from being a Lunch Club to being a Supper Club.
