For Mandy, joining Rotary wasn’t just a choice—it was a tradition. With a father who served as a Rotarian for 50 years and a mother actively involved in Rotary, the value of service above self was instilled early on. The ability to participate in community projects with fellow club members, give back in meaningful ways, and see lives transformed is what inspires Mandy to be a Rotarian.

Each project has provided opportunities not only to make a difference but also to grow personally and professionally, develop leadership skills, and learn from others who share the same vision for change.

Rotary Table Bay is a hands-on club that shows impact doesn’t always require big budgets. Over the years, the club has supported GrowBox, a community initiative started during Covid by Renschia, empowering families in Hanover Park to grow vegetables in wooden boxes to feed themselves. Her inspiring work has since expanded into a nursery.

Through practical support—installing a power line for the water pump, replacing the pump, and providing a composting toilet—Rotary has helped GrowBox thrive. Along the way, members have also built strong professional networks, established partnerships, and activated new opportunities that multiply impact far beyond a single project.

For this Rotarian, the experience has reinforced the power of Rotary: a chance to connect with a trusted global network, lead with purpose, and be part of an organisation known for turning compassion into action.
